1. Tell me something about your home.
I live in a modest apartment directly overlooking my marina berth on a canal in Runaway Bay with the Broadwater in the background. I’ve recently moved from a large house and found down-sizing difficult but have fallen in love with the simplicity of apartment living! I don’t miss a thing! It’s always tidy, the balcony doors are rarely closed and I feel very much at home.
2. What did you do before you found this career?
My father was a Bookmaker and I worked for him… I moved to Brisbane 18 years ago when my ex-husband won the tender to read all the water meters in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast and when a relationship breakdown caused me to find new employment I discovered real estate and have never looked back.
3. What has been the highlight of your career?
I worked for one of the larger real estate groups initially and whilst I was in the top 10 every month I only achieved number 1 once. I was very proud of myself! I must say I feel fantastic when I get an owner a great price, that’s what this is all about.
4. What is your greatest daily challenge?
Having enough time. What about exercise? Commitments to family and friends? A haircut! Even though the office is not open we work 7 days a week and sometimes this makes life challenging.
5. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I’ve only just gone back into sales after years of working in administration/management and have a lot of consolidation to do especially considering I am new to the Gold Coast! Lots of hard work between now and then…. Oh, I hope the boat is bigger!
6. Where do you find inspiration?
Giving people confidence they can do what they want to do and get to where they want to be! I am absolutely honoured to be appointed someone’s agent and take the role very seriously.
7. What’s your favourite restaurant?
My favourite restaurant changes! Doesn’t everyones?? Currently… well I like a pizza and beer and Justin Lane in Burleigh Heads offers me fresh tasty wood-fired pizza with locally brewed beer on tap. What more can a human being ask for??
8. What’s your favourite book?
Potato factory by Bryce Courtenay. If you haven’t read it do so. I have also given out several copies of the Alchemist by Paul Coelho – it’s a simple book and just reinforces that no matter where we are heading we should really being enjoying the journey along the way…
9. What do you do in your free time?
Boating. Eating. Love watching all sorts of sport.
10. Name one thing we may not know about you?
I can’t swim. Have never been able to learn despite the amount of time I spend in and on the water!
